When Coronavirus Strikes, Road Races Are Ran Virtually

I am a people person. This is one of the reasons why I love running races. Running next to other runners is electrifying! Running on the treadmill, however? Not so much.

April was suppose to be a big month for me. I was suppose to have a running race every weekend. Then the Coronavirus struck. One race was postponed, but no reschedule date has been given yet, and two races were rescheduled for the same date which made me choose between one or the other. The final race, the Sacramento Giant Race, was made into a virtual race.

I appreciate this option since it provides runners the option to complete the race no matter where they are located, no matter their responsibilities for the day, and no matter the time! For me, I didn’t start my Sacramento Giant Race virtual 10k until 9 o’clock at night. #momlife.

The race was definitely taken at a slow pace. During my “race”, I watched a YouTube motivational speaker video, felt inspired, and then wrote a blog post using voice to text all while completing my 6.2 miles on the treadmill. (I love the power of multitasking!)
