Two of the most important accessories as a female runner: a sports bra and running shoes. All other items are optional.
A few weeks ago, I received a Handful’s Closer sports bra to try out. As a well-endowed woman, I am constantly trying to find the right sports bra that isn’t going to chafe, is comfy, and provides me with the support I need. You other well-endowed women totally know what I’m talking about!
After taking the Closer bra out for shorter runs and longer runs like a half marathon, here’s what I’ve concluded:
Pros | Cons |
stylish mesh details | lacks support while running |
back adjustable straps | |
front opening | |
removable pads | |
comfortable |
As you can see from the chart above, the pros definitely outweigh the cons. The lack of support I feel while running could be because I am wearing the wrong size bra, am currently nursing my four-month-old baby, and/or because I have a large chest. When I first started running eight years ago, I would wear two sports bras while running. When I placed a sports bra over my Closer sports bra, I felt more support while running.
If I were doing a workout that did not involve running, I’d totally wear the Closer bra by Handful. I, in fact, even nursed baby while wearing the Closer bra. With the easy on/off front zipper, this was very easy to do! (Baby’s shirt says, “Strong like Mom!”)
