What to Pack for Your Outdoor Adventures

According to the CDC, the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays can damage your skin in as little as 15 minutes without proper protection. If you’re participating in any outdoor adventure, then you’re undoubtedly going to be exposed to the sun’s rays for longer than 15 minutes. This is why it’s crucial to know what to pack for all of your outdoor adventures to keep both you and your family safe.

Deciding What to Pack

When considering what to pack for outdoor adventures, ease and effectiveness are key.

  1. How easy is the product to pack? Is it compact? Will it take up a lot of space in my backpack, hydration pack, etc.
  2. How effective is the product? Will it protect me from the sun? How often will I need to reapply the product? Will I be exchanging comfort for effectiveness?

If a product is difficult to pack, takes up too much room, is uncomfortable and/or ineffective, the likelihood of you using the product again is slim to none! So, when shopping for sun protection for an outdoor adventure, ask yourself, “Is it easy to pack and is it effective?”

Sun Protection for Your Eyes and Face

Unquestionably, the one area of your body that receives the most sunlight is your face. This makes sun protection for your eyes (sunglasses) and face (BUFF visor or hat) a top priority. When looking for a hat or visor to pack for your outdoor adventures, it’s important to look for one that will provide your face with UPF 50+ protection.

UPF, which stands for ultraviolet protection factor, indicates what fraction of the sun’s UV rays can penetrate the fabric. A hat or visor labeled UPF 50, for example, allows just 1/50th of the sun’s UV radiation to reach your skin.

BUFF Pack Run Visor

Enter the BUFF Pack Run Visor. This on-the-go sun shade visor is your answer to all of your outdoor adventure needs. It receives a 10 out of 10 for both ease and effectiveness. It’s a super light, wicking, breathable visor that packs down small without losing its shape.

One of the features of the BUFF Pack Run Visor that is most appreciated especially during the hot summer months is the much-needed HeiQ cooling technology. This intelligent thermoregulation technology is activated by rising body temperature and deactivated once cooling is complete. HeiQ Smart Temp keeps the wearer cooler, dryer and more comfortable.

Other BUFF Products

I’ve been a fan of BUFF for quite a few years now. I, in fact, fell in love with the BUFF arm sleeves when I needed arm protection from the brutal sun while pacing a full marathon. I own several original BUFFs that I use for a variety of reasons such as protecting my ears from the cold of winter, preventing sand from entering my mouth during a windy day in San Francisco, and/or wrapping it around my wrist as use it as a hanky when there’s not a tissue in sight.
