Run Your Race, Find Your Strength

Friday Faves

Happy Friday! Truth be told, as I’m writing this it’s a little past midnight and I am still wide awake. I’ve been sick for the past week. Finally, I’m starting to feel like my normal, energetic self which leaves me wired and thinking of all the things I need to get done. I, however, am going to neglect my long list of to-do items, and write a “Friday Faves” blog post instead.

Today’s Friday Fave installment is dedicated to my some of my recent favorite things.

Dunkin Coffee. I blame my husband for this newfound obsession. He’s the one who first took me to Dunkin to get a coffee and now I’d rather go to Dunkin for a coffee instead of Starbucks. *gasp True story… Yesterday morning I took my 17 year old to Starbucks since she was feeling a little stressed about applying for college / scholarships. For the first time in like EVER, I ordered her a drink and ordered myself NOTHING. (I had an appointment to get to and figured I’d go to Dunkin after my appointment.) In an effort to be completely transparent, my dunkin order lately is “a large iced coffee with skim milk and vanilla swirl along with an egg and cheese sandwich on a plain bagel”. Yum!

Guacamole Takis. I don’t remember the first time I ate one of these bad boys, but I’m like totally obsessed! The last time I was at the grocery store, I couldn’t find any bags for sale and almost had heart failure right there on the spot! I wondered how they could go from having a huge display in the front of the store to having no bags for sale at all. I’m hoping this was just a fluke and they’ll have my beloved guacamole Takis back in the store soon.

Burt’s Bees Pomegranate Lip Balm. If someone were to search my car, classroom, and house, they’d probably find at least six opened half-used Burt’s Bees Pomegranate Lip Balms. I love that this chapstick moisturizes my lips, tastes great, and gives my lips a nice pink tint. I now order this chapstick in packs of four off of Amazon to feed my obsession.

Allegra D Medication. Remember when I said that I’ve been sick for over a week now? Thanks to my mom, I’m now getting better and it’s all because she passed on information she learned from her pharmacist. Who knew that the answer to my sneezing, runny nose, sore throat, and coughing was Allegra D. My mom told me to get Allegra D Tuesday evening. I tried to stop at the pharmacy on my way to work Wednesday morning, but they weren’t open yet. After sneezing at least a million times and blowing my nose every five seconds, I finally made a quick trip to the pharmacy at 11:30am when my students went to their elective class. No joke, within the first 15 minutes, I immediately stopped coughing, sneezing, and I was able to breathe through my nose. Woohoo!

As you can tell, I’ve fallen a bit off the wagon of running / working out. Instead, I’m going to Dunkin and eating Takis. With all good things, however, this too will end and I’ll be back to my usual, healthy habits in no time.

Do you have any weird obsessions lately? What are your Friday Faves? Tell me in the comments below.

Until next time,
