Transformation Tuesday #24

Happy #transformationtuesday! 7.5 years and 50 pounds separate these two pictures, but the real difference is the mindset. I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again… to make a lasting change, there has to be a lifestyle change. See the food that sits in front of me in the recent picture? It’s eggplant. The food in the other picture? It’s something fried.

Don’t think that I have it all figured out because I don’t. I still have my days (and weeks) where I struggle. I, in fact, have recently reached out to Christa of Sweating Awesome to be my accountability partner.  She has lost over 100 pounds and is now running 5ks!  She inspires me to move more and to make better food choices.

I will always have to carefully choose the foods I eat and as much as that sometimes really stinks, it’s okay. I refuse to diet. To me, the word “diet” is a four letter swear word.  When one of my students brings me a maple bar, I will allow myself to enjoy it. When my pants start to fit a little snug, I will exercise more. Life is about balance and living it to the fullest!

Until next time,

Transformation Tuesday #22

image1-1

These pics are 10 years and about 40 pounds apart.

Does a journey always travel in one direction? The answer is no. Therefore, our own health journey does not travel in one direction either. There will be days where we are doing really well; exercising the right amount, eating the right food, having a really great balance in our lives.  But then, there will be days where we fall off the wagon; eating foods we know we shouldn’t be eating, not doing the exercises that we should be doing, and feeling a lack of balance in our crazy lives. Free Challenges with Challengeville

I love a good challenge!  Joining a challenge helps give me that drive and focus I need to workout consistently.  I find it difficult to workout without having a goal in mind. I would love to sign up, travel, and participate in different road races every weekend, but this is not financially feasible.  (Anyone want to hire me to travel, run, and review road races?) Fortunately, I have found Challengeville.

Transformation Tuesday #21

transformation-tuesday-21

It’s time for a Transformation Tuesday post (my last one was over a month ago). As stated before, these side by sides help remind me where I’ve come from and where I’m going. The journey of health is just that, a journey. There’s no end game. Instead it’s one day at a time, one decision at a time.

Can you believe I am celebrating my 5 year anniversary as a No Meat Athlete?! Yes, 5 years of rethinking meal options. 5 years of trying to eat more plant-based foods. I’ve thought about reincorporating meat back in my diet, but for now I am happy continuing on the journey of meatless eating. (For more about my journey becoming a No Meat Athlete, read THIS post.) Trust me when I say I still struggle with food. I have a monstrous sweet tooth as well as a big problem with overeating. But again, I am on a journey. I have to remind myself it is not perfection I seek, but progress. One day at a time, one choice at a time and all by His strength.

Summer Catch Up

Every vacation I think, “Yes! I’m going to have so much time to blog, organize, and clean!” Yet, every vacation the opposite seems to be true. Why?! This time around, I’ll blame it on my Caribbean and Pacific Coast vacations. I have spent a lot of time with loved ones making memories; zip-lining, swimming in caves, horseback riding, snorkeling, etc. To say the least, it’s been a blast! “Sounds amazing Steph, but how has your nutrition and running been going?” I hear you asking. Well…
