As we’re approaching baby’s first birthday, I can’t help but take a little walk down memory lane... walking on the treadmill at #40weekspregnant! It sure is a whole lot easier to be on the treadmill now versus then! . Speaking of treadmill, I’ve been a little MIA recently. Work has been crazy and a lot has been happening with the three kids. My motivation for waking up at 4:30am has been missing and by the time evening rolls around, I’m ready to call it a night. The good news? This evening I worked out before making dinner and after getting home. Some more good news? I have a half marathon on Saturday... the @hallowinerun! Happy fall y’all! 🍂 Today was the perfect day. It started with sleeping in until 8am 🙌🏻 (yes, even baby), then it was the pumpkin patch, a home & garden show, a late lunch/early dinner, short run, and an in-home movie date night! As much as I love race weekends, I also really love weekends in which I can spend quality time with my loved ones while making memories to last a lifetime. 🧡 . . . #bishopspumpkinfarm #mylittlepumpkin #seraphinakay #pumpkins #iamblessed #momlife #runstrongrun

From my first half marathon 4 months #postpartum to my most recent half marathon 10 months postpartum.💥 How I felt within the final few miles of these two half marathons is very different. During the first half marathon, I remember my friend, @kelruns72, encouraging me to keep going. I was in pain and SO ready to be done. Fast forward to my most recent half marathon and my body felt tired, yet energized all at the same time. (This is evident in my smile and wave to my hubby and baby near the finish line.) In the last 10 months, I’ve completed a total of 6 half marathons, 3 full marathons, and 6 races ranging in distance between 5ks to a 12k. I’ll be honest and say that my training between these races has been minimal to say the least. What then has helped me shave nearly 30 minutes or two minutes per mile off of my overall time? I’d attribute it to 1) Diet. Nearly every day I eat overnight oats for breakfast, a protein shake for lunch, and a vegetarian meal for dinner. 2) Weight loss. Thanks to eating more reasonably, I’ve been able to lose a total of 50 pounds since giving birth (15 pounds between these two pictures). 3) Time. Growing a baby and having a c-section is taxing to a woman’s body. It takes time for the body to recover and begin to feel “normal” again.
